The university offers a more general MBA program, which allows students to choose from an array of elective courses. The theme-based instruction at this university lays much emphasis on communication, leading and managing value creation.

Students have to participate in a 5-week consulting project, where they are grouped together and placed in real companies. A newer requirement also has students experience different global cultures by working in companies in those countries for a duration of 3 weeks. In 2017, students would travel to China, Dubai or India.

A proposal to reduce the program credits from 57 to 45 has been approved and will be effective from September 2017. This would allow students to complete the degree in 16 months. Another new addition to the MBA program at the John Molson School of Business is the Van Berkholm Small-Cap Investment Management Program that gives students the opportunity to take charge of a $1,000,000 portfolio of small cap stocks.
