North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) is an institution positioned to serve as the major cultural, educational, and economic development force in the region. Located two hours from the major cities of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Des Moines, Iowa, NIACC is big enough to give students plenty of opportunities, but small enough to give them plenty of personal attention. We provide the four-year college experience at the two-year college price.
NIACC has a long history of providing a quality education to people from the United States and abroad. In 2018, NIACC will be celebrating the 100th year anniversary of providing an education to our students. We are the oldest two-year college in the state of Iowa and the third oldest in the nation, west of the Mississippi River.
In addition to great facilities and academics, many students play intramural sports or join some of NIACC’s over 40 student clubs and organizations. Students are encouraged to plan activities and events during their free time. Many of the clubs take yearly trips that will enhance their learning outside of the classroom. NIACC’s Performing Arts and Leadership Series brings nationally recognized shows and performers to the college campus monthly and students received free and reduced ticket prices to the shows and speakers. Chances are that whatever you are interested in, you can pursue it at NIACC!
NIACC’s countryside campus sits on 500 acres of land on the east edge of Mason City, Iowa. The campus includes contemporary learning facilities, a new student recreation center featuring a suspended track, a 1,200-seat auditorium, a lively student activity center, and lakeside student housing.
