Students who have a strong academic record but narrowly miss the English Language Admission have several options. The International Program at UBC Vantage College, a new initiative that integrates first-year coursework with intensive language training helps students transition seamlessly into the second year of college. The English language pathways programs also lead to a UBC undergraduate degree: the English Language Institute’s Conditional Admission Program (ELI-CAP) on UBC’s Vancouver campus, or the English Foundation Program (EFP) on UBC’s Okanagan campus.
Conditionally admitted students are accepted into their chosen programs on the condition that they develop their academic English to the required standard through their Intensive English Program of choice. Students must achieve at least 75% in each of their courses in order to proceed into their degree programs. The accredited programs are innovative and accredited, combining intensive English language training and academic courses while engaging students in campus life, creating a blend of strong academics, collaborative activities, and experiential and cultural learning on UBC’s Okanagan campus.
