Internships are usually sought out by juniors and seniors in their respective programs, however a student of any class standing can apply for an internship. Most internships are unpaid for academic credit but give the students invaluable experience in a real world job environment. Many interns are placed in organizations here in Flint such as Hurley Medical Center, Beecher High School, Department of Health and Human Services, and The Boys n’ Girls Club, etc. however some internships are located in other cities such as Detroit and Ann Arbor or even out of state. International students are required to fill out a Curricular Practical Training form (CPT) to be able to complete internships while attending the university.
