Several opportunities are mentioned below,
Internships: Students gain hands on experience by participating in our law clinics, our externship program, and our co-op program.
Clinics: In our law clinics, faculty supervise students in the representation of live clients in a growing variety of clinics that support a legal need in the community. Our clinics include the direct representation of clients with real legal problems and the advocacy of important legal issues that need to be addressed by our legal community. Clinical students are able to take what they learn in the classroom and apply that knowledge in helping resolve individual and societal legal problems.
Externships: Through the Externship Program, students are given the opportunity to work with attorneys at public interest organizations, government agencies and private firms while representing indigent clients with real-life legal issues in civil and criminal matters. In addition, students may also work with federal and state judges in the disposition of cases. These experiences enhance what students are learning through classroom instruction.
Co-op Program: The Co-op Program promotes experiential learning by providing our students, many of whom have business backgrounds or interests, with the unique opportunity to be mentored and supervised by corporate attorneys through internship.
