Scholarships for International Students

Indiana State University offers the International Scholar Award to undergraduate students. This award is $5,000 USD per academic year.

Graduate students are eligible for Graduate Assistantships. Assistantship students can receive a stipend of up to $8,000 USD per year. Availability of assistantships is dependent upon program of study and number of assistantships awarded to the program.

The Career Center at ISU has developed relationships with Duke Energy, Toyota, Delta Airlines, Walt Disney World among others. Each college has a specific network of internship facilities based on faculty experience and affiliation.

In the heart of the Midwestern United States, Indiana State University is located in Terre Haute, Indiana. The university is within short driving distances to multiple international airports. We are located 300 kilometers from Chicago, Illinois, 115 kilometers from Indianapolis, Indiana, and 270 kilometers from St. Louis, Missouri.

Indiana State University’s campus is in downtown Terre Haute, Indiana. The environment is convenient and safe and the campus is filled with friendly people. Indiana State’s campus offers speakers series, global nights, concerts, theater productions, sporting and other entertainment events.

At Terre Haute, you will find a local theater, symphony orchestra and art spaces. A farmers market and many festivals are hosted in the city. Terre Haute has several parks, and if you’re willing to drive for a little bit, you can also access state parks.


Indiana State offers more than 300 academic programs. Indiana State University has 5 academic colleges – education, technology, arts and sciences, business, and health and human services.

Indiana State’s MBA program is recognized among the top business programs in the United States according to Princeton Review. We have one of the few unmanned systems programs in the United States and offer a Master’s degree in Genomics, both progressive fields of study.


Indiana State University has more than 400 campus acres and 72 academic buildings. Indiana State has a brand new upper class-man residence hall in the middle of downtown. State’s other 13 residence halls are located conveniently on campus and have modern upgrades and amenities. They have staff on duty 24 hours a day and offer scan key entry and on-site dining.

Our Career Center and Math and Writing lab are great resources for students. We also have free tutoring available for students seeking assistance with their studies.

Indiana State’s state of the art student recreational center is a great place for students to engage one another and practice a fit and healthy lifestyle.


Indiana State University has 13 residence halls on campus open to international students. They are all staffed 24 hours/day and have modern upgrades and amenities. The residence halls offer single and double room occupancy. They also offer apartment style living.

Services for International Students

Indiana State’s Center for Global Engagement assists students once they have arrived on campus to help meet their needs as they transition. They host various picnics and global experiences. There are also many international and other student organizations (more than 280 clubs and organizations) that are open to all students.
